Well, guys the totals are rolling in. Friday the 13th remake (reboot, relaunch, sequel) grabbed a huge $42 million dollars. And considering this is a 4 day weekend with Presidents day most people are believing it will end around $50-$55 million. A monster take. And the largest opening ever for a horror movie. EVER. Also a thriller Taken with Liam Neesom is continuing to hold tight at a huge $19.3 million take and raised its status to $77.9 million. The Uninvited hit $4.7 million raising its total to $24.1 millon. Underworld Rise of the Lycans was 14th with $2.3 million for a total take of $43.4 million. And in the magic number category My Bloody Valentine 3D took $1.8 million and hit that $50 million dollar mark. All these figures are in US.
Film, breathing new life into the classic franchise, is on its way to posting the best four-day holiday gross ever for a R-rated pic. Studios will report four-day numbers for President’s Day weekend on Monday.
Paramount is a partner on “Friday,” which was produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. Production budget was $19 million, meaning the film recouped those costs in its first day in release (Friday’s gross was $19.4 million.
